Fun Fact #2

Next! Lemurs are actually termed as “Creators of the Forests”. Why you may ask? This is because lemurs disperse the seeds. This means that these tiny or large lemurs help maintain forest structure, diversity, and dynamics. Ruffe lemurs is a good example of a lemur that acts as a key seed disperser. Let me explain more on this! When these lemurs are eating the plants, seeds or whatever, the pollen or seeds get stuck to their fur. They then pass the pollen and seeds on to other flowers and plants.

Fun Fact #3

Here’s a fun but also weird one. When these lemurs fall sick, they don’t schedule for a doctor appointments or rush to the nearest lemur doctor. These lemurs actually use the forests to cure themselves. Let’s focus on the red-fronted brown lemurs. The red-fronted brown lemurs munch on millipedes to cure their tummy troubles! Yes, you’re right, millipedes. These millipedes turn out to have contain toxins that is able to kill of any parasites within their digestive tract. That’s one tummy problem gone!

Fun Fact #4

Remember the first blog that I posted? The scary lemur species? The Aye-Aye lemurs! Those lemurs are considered to be evil omens. We all know why from its creepy looking appearance. Ugh! It possesses long, spindly fingers, wild hair, and piercing eyes that look at thy soul. Jokes! But you get what I mean though.

Fun Fact #5

Have you ever hear a lemur sing? Lemurs, specifically the Indri species are talented singers. The indris tend to sing together as a group. Their songs are not just random chirps but an orchestrated performance that can last from 45 seconds to a few mesmerizing minutes. It is truly a symphony when the indris sing. Their vocalisations are distinctively loud and unmistakable, echoing through the forest like a natural orchestra. Why do they sing as a group? The indris are creating an astonishing harmony but also strengthens their familial bonds! Talk about happy family, happy life, right?

Hello Adeline! Thank you so much for this question! King Julien was created for entertainment purposes 😁 BUT BUT BUT the female lemurs are perhaps the more dominant ones, they don't act like a king or leader though. It may differ in species but female lemurs tend to be more socially dominant and hold "leadership" roles within their groups.

Hi Brendan! It was an interesting blog to learn about this cute creature from Madagascar. My question is, do they actually have a leader among them like King Julien from the movie who leads the herd?

Thank you.😀
